Synopsis: MATTIE is a story of life, love, and the quest for
happiness that is found in more than gold. Mattie, a young
woman coming of age in a mining camp of the southwest,
falls in love with a handsome miner whose wanderlust and
love for gold has made him a reckless claim jumper. Yet the
hard reality of the old west brings death, confusion, and the
burning question: why does God let bad things happen to
good people? As gold is refined by fire, Mattie's life is
refined as she learns the value of love and family.
